Family Success Coaching

Working as a trusted advocate and partner in families' progress toward their own goals for health, stability, and self-sufficiency.

Family Success Coaching

SBCC's approach to family support and family development differs from traditional case management models. Many approaches ask a case manager to identify family needs and deficits and then arrange service referrals while monitoring family progress. Family Success Coaching pairs adult and youth family members as a team with a coach/case manager. Based on collaborative review of family strengths and challenges, each participating family sets its own developmental goals, and creates a timeline with action steps. The coach's primary role is to support the family in reaching these self-identified goals, and in periodic self-reflection and strength-based assessment of growth and change. Coaches meet regularly with participating families at SBCC facilities, in offices and program locations of our partners in the Family Support Collaborative, and in families' homes. While the central focus of the program is on family identification of strengths and collaborative removal of barriers to success, this emphasis on collaboration and dialogue is bolstered by the availability of the member organizations in the Family Support Collaborative, who can provide a full range of additional supportive, educational, healthcare, economic, and other services as needed.
